I heard different things about Amsterdam. Some people said to me that Amsterdam is a dirty place with too many stoned tourists. Other people told me that it is a beautiful city with cozy coffee shops and a lot of friendly people who love to cycle. I definitely belong to the second kind of people. I love Amsterdam and the atmosphere that prevails there.
The houses are all built high and are close to each other. Some houses are even quite sloping. I like the style of the city. The different alleys remind me a bit of Hogsmeade. The village that we all know from Harry Potter.

In Amsterdam you can do a lot of different things. When I booked Amsterdam, I did not know how well you can go shopping there. It is comparable to London. No joke! You can find all the big shopping stores like Urban Outfitters, Topshop, Forever21, H&M, Zara, Mango, Bershka, Pullandbear, River Island and Co. Amsterdam is a paradise for all shopping freaks out there!

If the weather plays along you should definitely make a bike tour. If you find cycling with a normal bike too boring, I recommend to rent a tandem together with your friend. I did it and it was so much fun. At the beginning, it was actually quite difficult. I definitely imagined it easier! After a few minutes, my colleague and I were a well-rehearsed team. Ok, we still looked like typical tourists.

Besides the famous coffee shops you can also find a lot of great waffle shops. The waffles in Amsterdam are delicious! There is a large selection of different toppings. I can highly recommend the shop called „The Happy Pig Pancake Shop“. As the name already tells you it is also a place where you can eat pancakes.

I don’t want to write a lot about the red lights in Amsterdam. Briefly and succinctly, they are there. And I’m sure no one has ever overlooked them. They are simply a part of the city. I don’t think that the city will ever turn off all the lights. Although we sometimes wish for the affected people.

I was just three days in Amsterdam. Unfortunately I can’t give you the ultimate insider tips. But I want to show you some of my pictures I made. It wasn’t always the best weather, so I didn’t have my camera with me all the time.  A few pictures I can show you yet. Enjoy it!
